DESCRIPTION:Building African American Minds\, Inc. welcomes Lawrence Burney\, 2026 One Maryland One Book author\, for a full day of programming on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026. \nYouth Workshop | 1:00–3:00 PM\nBAAM Academic Center\, 31 Jowite St\, Easton\, MD \nMiddle and high school students will close-listen to lyrics from Kendrick Lamar\, Nas\, and GoldLink\, focusing on how each artist captures coming of age in a specific place. Participants will then write their own creative piece on growing up on the Eastern Shore. Free and open to all middle/high school students. Registration required. \nAbout Lawrence Burney \nLawrence Burney is a writer\, critic\, and founder of True Laurels\, an independent magazine covering Baltimore’s music and culture scene.
