Celebrating Black Voices
Ryan Family Library
The BAAM Ryan Family Library is a vibrant cultural and educational space dedicated to celebrating the richness of Black and African American history, literature, and identity. Located within the BAAM Academic Center in Easton, Maryland, the library features a curated collection of books by Black and African American authors and illustrators—spanning children’s literature, young adult fiction, historical nonfiction, poetry, and more. Guided by W.E.B. DuBois’s vision of “for us, by us, about us, and near us,” the library offers a welcoming environment where young people and community members can see themselves reflected in the stories they read and the knowledge they pursue.
In addition to its collection, the BAAM Ryan Family Library hosts a variety of author talks, lectures, and community events that center Black voices and experiences—locally, statewide, and nationally. These programs serve to uplift the achievements and contributions of African Americans across generations and disciplines. Whether you’re exploring literature, connecting through community events, or simply seeking a quiet space for reflection and learning, the BAAM Ryan Family Library is committed to being a trusted resource for inspiration, cultural affirmation, and intellectual growth.
The BAAM Ryan Family Library was made possible through the generous support of the Ryan Memorial Foundation, whose commitment to education and cultural enrichment helped bring this vision to life.
